Martin Freedman, M.D.
Dr. Freedman received his undergraduate degree from the
University of Michigan and completed his medical education
at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Upon completion
of a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Maricopa
County General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Freedman
arrived in Philadelphia and completed a post graduate fellowship
in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University
of Pennsylvania.
After
spending a brief period as an attending physician at the Hospital of the University
of Pennsylvania, Dr. Freedman became the Director of the In Vitro Fertilization
Program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in 1984. Under his direction, the IVF
Program was successful in producing the first live birth of a child resulting
from a cryopreserved embryo in 1988. During this time, Dr. Freedman also established
a successful practice in infertility and reproductive endocrinology, now known
as Northern Fertility and Reproductive Associates.
Dr. Freedman is now affiliated with Holy Redeemer Hospital
and Medical Center and Abington Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Freedman is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics
and Gynecology in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility. He is a member of many professional
organizations and is the first elected president of the
Philadelphia Area Reproductive Endocrinologists group. He
is a reviewer for the journal Fertility and Sterility. Dr.
Freedman has been named a TOP Doc in Philadelphia Magazine
multiple times.
Arthur J. Castelbaum, M.D.
Dr. Castelbaum received his undergraduate degree in Biology and completed his
medical education at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Castelbaum completed
his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology as well as a post-graduate
fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of
Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Castelbaum has performed extensive research in the field
of reproductive endocrinology concentrating on factors associated
with the uterine lining, implantation, and infertility.
He has authored many articles on this topic in medical journals
and presented his findings at national and international
scientific meetings. He is actively involved with resident/physician
education. He is a reviewer for the journals Fertility and
Sterility and Human Reproduction. He has been featured in
Philadelphia Magazine and the Discovery Channel, and has
been named a TOP Doc in Philadelphia Magazine multiple times.
Dr. Castelbaum is affiliated with Holy Redeemer Hospital
and Medical Center and Abington Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Castelbaum is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology
in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He
is a member of many professional organizations and is active in giving lectures
in the community.
Jacqueline N. Gutmann, M.D.
A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, Dr. Gutmann is one of only approximately 800 physicians in the country who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology. She has published numerous articles on infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, assisted reproductive technology, and complementary and alternative medicine in infertility. Dr. Gutmann has held numerous leadership positions in local and national professional organizations and is on the medical advisory boards of several patient advocacy groups. Dr. Gutmann is Clinical Associate Professor at Thomas Jefferson University and a physician at Northern Fertility and Reproductive Associates in Philadelphia, PA.
Benjamin Gocial, MD
Dr. Gocial is an internationally recognized reproductive endocrinologist with particular expertise in laparoscopic surgery specializing in minimally invasive surgical techniques. He earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Following his training, Dr. Gocial established an in vitro fertilization program and andrology laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and later served on the staff at the Philadelphia Fertility Institute prior to joining Northern Fertility in 2007.
He is currently Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Gocial is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is also certified in multiple advanced laparoscopic procedures including the use of robotic assisted surgery for fertility preservation and restoration.
Dr. Gocial is an active member of many professional organizations, including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). He served as a board member and committee chair of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART), and is co-founder and past president of the Philadelphia Area Reproductive Endocrine Society. Dr. Gocial is a reviewer for the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, and has been named a “Top Doc” by Philadelphia Magazine.

Gill Haberman, R.N.C., M.S.N.
Infertility Nurse Coordinator
Erlynn has a B.S.N.
degree from the University of Delaware and a M.S.N. degree in Health Care of Women
from the University of Pennsylvania. Erlynn was the In Vitro Fertilization Nurse
Coordinator at Albert Einstein Medical Center with Doctor Freedman for seven years.
She also assisted with the private practice there. Erlynn is certified in Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility Nursing.

Denise is a graduate
of the School of Nursing at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Denise has been
a Northern Fertility nurse for the past 11 years. Previously she had extensive
experience in OB-GYN nursing.

Robin is a graduate
of Northampton County Area Community College. Robin has been an IVF nurse coordinator
since 1987, initially at Christian Fertility Institute, and subsequently at Family
Fertility Center.
